Molise is a region situated in the South of Italy. Its capital is Campobasso.

The surface of the region is divided almost equally between mountainous areas, 55.3% and hilly areas, 44.7% of the territory. The mountainous area lies between Apennini and the Appennino Sannita. The Meta mountains (2241 m) form the meeting point of the boundary line between Molise, Abruzzo and Lazio. Then there are the Matese Mountains that run along the border with Campania and reach 2050 meters with Miletto mountain. On the east side, the Subappenino (Frentani Mountains) down to the sea with very steep hills and rounded shapes. The climate is semi-continental with cold winters and hot summers. On the coast the climate is more agreeable, as it proceeds towards the interior winter becomes more rigid and the temperatures drop considerably (Campobasso in the winter is one of the coldest cities in Italy). On the cost, in the summer, winds often blow making sweeter the warm months. For 38 km Molise is wet by the Adriatic Sea. The coast is low and sandy, especially in Termoli, in whose shelter was constructed a small artificial harbor. Along the coast there are also some flat strips, no more than a few kilometers wide. The formation of coastal dunes caused the stagnation of the waters of the streams resulting in the formation of swamps, for some time, however, removed

In Molise, in addition, is present the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise (Mainarde), there are large wooded areas, especially in the Province of Isernia, making it rich in plant species as well as animals. Of great importance are the oasis of the WWF (and Monte Mutria Guardiaregia-Campochiaro), the Oasis of LIPU in Casacalenda, the Matese mountains, the reserve Collemeluccio with its forests of fir extensions, the reserves of MAB Montedimezzo, the Botanical Garden of Capracotta

Fauna is characterized by the presence of the Marsicano brown bear, chamois, deer, wolf, fox. The cuisine of Molise is very varied, among the most important are the olives from which we extract an olive-flavored soft consumed raw on salads and croutons. The excellent workmanship of the product has earned oil Molise, in 2003, the DOP. Still on the subject of olive oil, many countries are part of the "Oil City", based in Larino.
